Find this creepy?
Every website you visit, and all the carriers along the way, needs the IP address of your device to transmit your data and return content. Using commonly available IP address lookup services, any of these can determine your approximate location. These service providers can also capture your communications, and are largely unfettered in using it for their own purposes. They can also secretly hand it over to third parties, including law enforcement and security agencies. With IXmaps, we only use your IP address only to produce these maps and then anonymize it. For more, see our privacy policy.

Note that you may need to resubmit your search to view results with updated settings
If you're getting started, it's easiest to begin with some of our canned queries in the Quick search section - see tab on far left. If you've just generated a route, you'll be able to find it easily by clicking on the 'Last Contributed' button. The 4 rightmost Quick buttons use the location and ISP information provided on your first visit this session to the Map page.
If you do not find the route(s) you were looking for, go to either the Basic or Advanced tab where you can adjust the search conditions.
If routes are reported found but none appear on the map, it may help to zoom out, or on the rare occasion of very short routes, to zoom in on the city of origin.
